How to decode this name in your report
Because the "_" separator only appears between blocks, you can split the name back into columns and filter or sum by objective, audience or offer.
| Block | Piece of the name |
|---|---|
| Channel | meta-ads |
| Objective | conversion |
| Audience | remarketing-30d |
| Offer | black-friday |
| Date | 20261101 |
In a spreadsheet, paste the names into one column and use Data > Split text to columns (Google Sheets) or Data > Text to Columns (Excel), with the separator above as a custom delimiter. Each column becomes one block, in the order of this table.
How to build a standardized campaign name
When everyone on the team names campaigns their own way, reports turn into soup: "BF remarketing", "black friday - RMKT", "Remarketing_BlackFriday". A naming convention fixes that, because each block of the name always sits in the same place and you can filter, sum and compare by objective, audience or offer. This tool builds the name from blocks, applies the same cleaning to all of them and generates whole lists at once.
- Fill in the blocks. Objective, audience, offer and, if you like, channel or platform and date. An empty block is skipped, so not every name needs every block.
- Set the order. Use the up and down buttons to put first the block you filter by most. The order only changes position, never content.
- Choose separator, case and date. Separator (_ - . |), lowercase, UPPERCASE or as typed, accent removal and the date format, such as YYYYMMDD or MMMYY.
- Copy the name or generate a batch. In the Batch tab, write several values per line in the blocks that vary, check the list of combinations and download everything as CSV.

How the name is built
Each block goes through the same steps: accents are removed (if checked), the case is applied and any run of spaces and symbols becomes a single linking dash. The chosen separator only appears between blocks. So if you pick the hyphen as separator, words inside a block are joined with an underscore, and the other way around in the remaining cases.
That rule makes the name decodable: splitting the text by the separator returns exactly the blocks. In a spreadsheet, just use Split text to columns with the separator as delimiter. The generator shows that split block by block right below the name.
In batch mode, the number of names is the product of the list sizes. Two lists with 2 and 3 values give 6 names. The cap is 500 names; above that the generator asks you to shorten the lists before generating. Names that end up identical after cleaning (for example Black Friday and black-friday) are counted once.
- 1. No accents
Summer Promoção → Summer Promocao - 2. Case
Summer Promocao → summer promocao - 3. Linking words
summer promocao → summer-promocao - 4. Joining the blocks
channel + objective + offer + date → meta_conversion_summer-sale_20261101 - 5. Batch combinations

Examples
Black Friday remarketing campaign
Channel Meta Ads, objective Conversion, audience Remarketing 30d, offer Black Friday, date 11/01/2026, underscore separator and YYYYMMDD format. Result: meta-ads_conversion_remarketing-30d_black-friday_20261101, 56 characters long.
Another pattern: uppercase, dot and short month
Only objective, offer and date, with a dot separator, UPPERCASE and the MMMYY format. Result: CONVERSION.BLACK-FRIDAY.NOV26. The block order is the order of the list, so moving the date to the top would turn the name into NOV26.CONVERSION.BLACK-FRIDAY.
A batch of 2 channels by 3 offers
Channels Meta and Google, offers Black Friday, Christmas and Summer, with the date 11/01/2026. That is 2 × 3 = 6 names, from meta_black-friday_20261101 to google_summer_20261101, ready to download as CSV with one column per block.
Frequently asked questions
How do I standardize ad campaign names?
Define the blocks every name must have, their order, the separator and the letter case, and always apply the same rule. A common pattern is channel, objective, audience, offer and date, but what matters is that the order is fixed for the whole team.
Which separator should I use in a campaign name: hyphen, underscore or dot?
Any of them works as long as it does not appear inside the blocks. This tool guarantees that by using a different character to join words inside each block. Underscore is a common choice because it stands out from the hyphen used in words.
Can I use accents and spaces in a campaign name?
You can, but it is not recommended. Accents and spaces often cause trouble in exports, spreadsheets and text filters, and the same word written two ways becomes two rows in the report. That is why the pattern removes accents and turns spaces into a dash.
What is the maximum length of a campaign name?
It depends on the platform and may change, so check its documentation. The tool shows the name length and gives a generic warning above 100 characters, which is not any platform's rule, just a heads-up that the name is long for reading in reports.
How do I split a campaign name into columns in a spreadsheet?
Paste the names into one column and use Split text to columns (Google Sheets) or Text to Columns (Excel), choosing the pattern's separator as the delimiter. Each resulting column is one block, in the order the name was built.
Which date format should I use in a campaign name?
YYYYMMDD is the most practical, because alphabetical order matches chronological order: 20261101 comes before 20261115. If the campaign lasts months, YYYYMM or MMMYY is enough.
Are the names I type sent to any server?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is sent or saved. The CSV is generated on your machine when you click download.
